Probiotic bacteria are a substance which improves digestion and counteracts damage caused by antibiotics. Probiotics are most commonly found in yogurt, though they are more potent in pill form. This dietary supplement lowers cholesterol, supports healthy blood glucose levels, treats gastrointestinal conditions and promotes a healthy immune system. Probiotics are made of lactobacillus rhamnosus, bacillus subtilis, bifidobacterium breve, lactobacillus acidophilus, lactobacillus plantarum, lactobacillus casei and more. Most interestingly, probiotics contain 5.75 billion live organisms at the time of production. The bacteria survive better when chilled, so it is recommended that the pills be refrigerated for best results.
